About the Author
May Green is a computer programmer from Seattle. She was interested in computers at the age of ten. As a child, May would create small robots from bits of broken toys and some loose wires around the house. Her parents supported her in dreaming big, and they got her an old laptop when she was twelve years old. This is where she first started coding.
May’s interest in tech increased every year. She taught herself to code using YouTube videos and library books that she borrowed. She did this at night, making small games and computer puzzles for her friends. May also liked fixing broken appliances in her area.
After high school, May enrolled in a local college and studied computer science. She joined the coding club and had numerous friends who shared the same interest in technology as her. They worked together on hackathons and developed apps just for fun. May loved to develop tools that assist in resolving small everyday problems.
Experience
May founded her own small business. She hired her college best friends to work alongside her. May’s business created more apps, including a parents’ organizer and a kids’ weather app. All the apps were designed to be user-friendly for all.
May enjoys reading about artificial intelligence and design in her free time. She is keen on new technology and reading about what future smart devices will be able to do. May goes out and visits schools and talks to teenagers. She shares with them her experience and encourages them to try it out and develop their own apps. She believes that anyone can do it if they are creative and interested.
May is very busy in her leisure time. She goes hiking in the mountains surrounding her hometown and camps with her family during the summer. She likes painting as well and takes photographs of nature when she is out walking. Her friends say that she sees beauty in small things, and she brings this curiosity along with her when she is designing her apps.
May is a firm believer in teamwork and idea sharing. All the people in her company get an opportunity to suggest new projects. She never fails to remind others that, “Great apps are made with imagination and teamwork.” May is a very kind and thoughtful person, both within and outside the office.
